چکیده

Materials and methods The reconstructed site was the humerus in 15 cases, the radius, the ulna or the wrist joint in 22 cases, carpal or metacarpal bone in 52. The etiologies consisted of three traumatic bone defects, 13 traumatic nonunions of long bone, two osteonecroses of the humeral head, eight osteomyelitis, nine case after resections of bone tumor, two congenital pseudoarthroses of the ulna, one congenital club hand, 23 nonunions of the scaphoid fracture, 26 Kienböck’s deseases and two Preiser’s desease. As the donor site, we used fibula graft for segmental bone defects by trauma or after resection of bone tumor, pedicled scapula graft for lesions around the head or neck of humerus, thin corticoperiosteal graft from the medial femoral condyle for nonunions with small bone defect, vascularlized bone from the distal radius for nonunions of scaphoid fractures, Kienböck’s diseases or Preiser’s diseases.

Vascularised fibula graft for tumours

The reconstruction of long bone defects after tumor resection has been a challenge to the reconstructive surgeon. Increased survival of patients with aggressive or malignant tumors of the extremities has made microsurgical reconstruction more relevant in improving their quality of life. In order to avoid amputation, these long defects are often reconstructed with vascularized autogenous fibular...

Vascularized bone grafts to the upper extremities.

From 1979 to 1995 in our clinic, vascularized bone grafting was performed in 29 patients with large bone defects, established nonunion, congenital pseudoarthrosis, or avascular necrosis in the upper extremity. Four patients had traumatic bone defects, six had posttraumatic nonunions, two had congenital pseudoarthroses, five had amputations, nine had defects following tumor resection, and three ...

Reconstructionof Human Mandibular Continuity Defects with Allogenic Scaffold and Autologousmarrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells

Background Mandibular continuity defects occur after tumor resection, maxillofacial injury, or osteomyelitis. Despite the current availability of a plethora of treatment modalities, bone substitutes, and various clinical adjuncts, an exact reconstructive recapitulation of large bony defects continues to be beyond reach. In this clinical pilot study, we report a novel method for reconstruction ...

Viability of Vascularized Bone Graft from the Iliac Crest Using the Iliac Branch of the Iliolumbar Artery: Experimental Study on Rats.

OBJECTIVE Through an experimental model, our aim was to create inferences about the viability of vascularized bone grafts from the iliac crest in rats and investigate their histological features. METHODS Twenty-one rats were used, divided into two groups: the first consisted of animals that were subjected to the technique of vascularized bone graft pedicled onto the iliac branch of the iliolu...
